Penitentiary Glen Reservation Tent Camping

Lake Metroparks offers individual and group tent camping opportunities by permit only. Tent camping season is May 7 through November 30 with reservations beginning May 6 at 8:00 am. Tent campsites for Lake County residents are $15 per night. Out of County customer rate is $25 per night. There is a limit of three outstanding permits at one time with a three night limit on each reservation for each household.

Tent Camping Penitentiary Glen Reservation

This cozy campsite is nestled near the rim of the gorge. The site is just a short walk from the nearby designated parking space northwest of Penitentiary Glen Nature Center. The nature center closes each day at 5 pm. Public flush restrooms and a drinking fountain are located near Nature Play less than one mile from the site.

A picnic table, a grill and a fire ring are provided. Please note that water and electricity are NOT provided. Lake Metroparks recommends campers bring potable water for use during their stay.
